Attended Bruce Weber’s launch party for As They See ‘Em: A Fan’s Travels in the Land of Umpires, his new book on that rare breed, the American baseball umpire. Must be honest and say that I am not a big baseball fan, but this book is so engaging and has such an interesting approach that even this non-sports person will read this baseball-lovers book.
Party details: Was held at the Knickerbocker Bar and Grill in the West Village. Spotted in the crowd, Amy “Binky” Urban, Philip Spitzer, Colin Harrison, Jerry Eisner, and lots of folks whose faces were familiar but I could not, for the life of me, put a name to. Good crowd.
Word is the book’s doing well. Good topic. Good writer. Nice to see it all come together.
