I had a wonderful treat today: a reading by Walter Mosley at the Brooklyn Public Library. For an hour, he kept an auditorium of avid fans entertained and stimulated with his charm, wit, eloquence, and insight — and oh, yes, he did a fabulous reading from his latest Leonid McGill work, too.
Members of the New York chapter of Mystery Writers of America are in for a special treat this September, when we get to have Mosley all to ourselves. He has agreed to be our very special speaker at our chapter meeting.
In other news, Black Orchid Blues is already on sale, at least through Amazon.com. I thought the release date was April 1. Then I saw that Amazon had changed it to March 22. However, readers have been copies for a couple of weeks now. My baby’s out there. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll do well.
Reviewers are discovering that Black Orchid Blues is actually the second book in the Lanie Price series and they’re reacting positively. I really love Lanie. She’s the kind of person I’d want on my side in a pinch. I hope readers will feel the same way and go back and discover her first book, Darkness and the Devil Behind Me. (Those who do will find that the Kindle version is a steal at $2.99.)
Meanwhile, I’m loving the fact that Booklist suggested that Black Orchid Blues might be of interest to Walter Mosley fans. Amazon.com seems to have taken that to heart. It’s coupling the Lanie books with Walter’s Leonid McGill stories.
Can it get any better than this?
Last but not least, I’d love it if readers would upload photos of themselves reading Black Orchid Blues at my Facebook page. I’d just like to see the faces of those who enjoys my books and thank every one of them!
