By Lanie Price, Society Reporter

NEW YORK, April 22, 1924—Mildred Evans, a beloved and respected housekeeper, tragically passed away on August 21, 1924, at the age of 46. Mrs. Evans had been a devoted member of the Thompson household for over a decade, serving her employer with unwavering loyalty and grace. Born in the rural South, Mrs. Evans moved to Harlem with her husband and young son in search of better opportunities, and it was here that she built a life defined by hard work, integrity, and a deep commitment to her family.

Known throughout the community for her quiet strength and impeccable work ethic, Mrs. Evans became a cornerstone in the lives of those she touched. Her attention to detail and her discretion earned her the trust and respect of her employer and those who had the privilege of knowing her. Yet, despite her often private nature, Mrs. Evans was always willing to lend a hand to those in need, demonstrating a quiet compassion that made her a beloved figure in her neighborhood.

Resilient in the face of life’s challenges, Mrs. Evans was fiercely protective of her family's reputation and well-being. She carried herself with dignity and took great pride in both her work and her role as a mother and wife. Though she spent her days keeping the homes of others in order, it was her quiet wisdom and integrity that left a lasting impact on those around her. Her life, while often spent in the service of others, was marked by a strength of character that earned her the love and respect of her community.

Mrs. Evans was a faithful member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she attended services regularly and found comfort in her faith. Funeral services will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, August 30, 1924, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Henry Evans, and her son, Thomas Evans. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
